Scriptures provide the perspective that can easily be lost as you live your life in a world that has its own perception of what is right and what is real. It helps you keep your faith. Without it over time your spirituality can get dull and you can start to lose your grasp of why you believe what you do. It's like a daily recharge between visits to the temple.
